Carmelo Anthony has been traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott & 2018 second-round pick.
Now, how is this going to work? Even though this is a 1 year experiment. Carmelo will become a free agent next summer. Westbrook has yet to sign an extension and Paul George has his eyes on Los Angeles. The OKC Thunder are really going for it all this season. If they strikeout in the playoffs, having already traded a lot of young players and future already, the direction of the franchise will be uncertain. Failure in the post season will open up possibilities of “tanking” in the near future.
How will this season look like?
Simple. It will be an exhibition of a few stars. Paul George will be looking to build his stat line. Westbrook will be the Brodie he is. And for Carmelo Anthony, well, he would need his touches.
A lot of “Isolation” type of players here. Yes, extremely talented at that as well, no doubt, the West got a lot stronger now. However, will it really work? Will they get enough touches? Will their stars be able to average 20+ ppg? This may be scripted for a huge disaster or a blessing in disguise.
