The Golden State Warriors are a professional basketball team based in San Francisco, California. They were founded in 1946 as the Philadelphia Warriors and moved to San Francisco in 1962. In 1971, they won their first NBA championship, led by Hall of Famers Rick Barry and Jamaal Wilkes.
After some lean years, the team experienced a resurgence, starting with the arrival of Stephen Curry in 2009. Alongside Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, Curry helped lead the team to three championships (2015, 2017, and 2018) over four seasons from 2014-15 through to the end of the '17-'18 season.
The franchise has had many notable players throughout its history, including Wilt Chamberlain, who set numerous records during his time with both Philadelphia and San Francisco; Nate Thurmond, who was one of only five players ever to record an official quadruple-double; Chris Mullin, who played for them between '85-'97 before returning briefly at age forty-two; Tim Hardaway Sr.; and Latrell Sprewell, among others.
