The Toronto Raptors are a professional basketball team based in Toronto, Canada. They were founded in 1995 as part of the NBA's expansion into Canada and played their first game on November 3rd of that year against the New Jersey Nets. The team struggled initially, finishing with a record of just 21-61 in their inaugural season.
However, over time, the Raptors began to improve and, by the early 2000s, had established themselves as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference. Led by stars such as Vince Carter and Chris Bosh, they made multiple playoff appearances during this period but were never able to advance past the second round.
In recent years, however, things have changed for the better. With an emphasis on defense and teamwork under head coach Dwane Casey (2011-2018), followed by Nick Nurse (2018-present), they won their first-ever NBA championship title in 2019 behind Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard.
Overall, despite some ups and downs throughout its history thus far - including various roster changes -the franchise has become a beloved institution among Canadian sports fans who continue to support them passionately both at home games at Scotiabank Arena or while watching from afar via TV broadcasts or online streaming services like League Pass!
